of Henrietta (Henny) DuBois

Prior to this time in my life, there were a few excursions into the area of art. Some art classes in high school. A camera instead of a watch when I graduated from high school in 1948. Designing family Christmas cards for silk screening. Continuing education ceramic and photography courses.

My focus was on numbers. Degree in math from the University of Illinois in 1955. Engineering work at Illinois Bell after graduation. Time off to raise 5 children. Back to school in the 1970's in computer science. Seventeen-year career in computers at Kemper Insurance. Retirement in 1994.

Now I'm pursuing the arts. Photography and ceramics. Have been taking classes in both these areas at local community colleges. Have had work accepted in juried shows at Elgin Community College, Skyway, Norris Cultural Arts Center, Graue Mill & Museum Photography shows, Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, Lemon Street Gallery in Kenosha, Northwest Cultural Council and Bloomingdale Park District shows. At the 2000 juried art show at Elgin Community College, a digital photomontage received the best of show award.

Norris Cultural Arts Center purchased two of my works for their permanent collection. I have received awards for photomontages at Elgin Community College, Bloomingdale Park District Art shows, Graue Mill & Museum Photography show and the Winter Art Exhibit at the Campbell House in Geneva. My work has been on display at Schaumburg Township Library, the Hoffman Estates Village Hall and The Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake.
